After 24,000 3/4 of the pads were gone and rotors couldn't be turned again, 'nuff said.

Anyone else this hard on their brakes, or do the stock pads just suck? I know the rotors suck.

Mine both sucked. pads and rotors. every 2 days my wheels were black, rotors got warped, etc.

A call to fasttoys and $260 later, i had KVR slotted rotors w/ coatings, and carbon fiber pads.

    now i love my breaks.

I put 80,000 miles on the original stock pads and rotors on my '98.

Then after I started autocrossing it, I had the rotors turned and put a set of EBC greenstuff pads on it.

It's got 85,000 on it now. I like the new pads a lot. Haven't checked how they're wearing yet though...

I am on my third set of front rotors, and they need to be turned again badly. Its possible that they are too far gone already, too. I'm also on my fourth set of front pads. I'm at 92,000. My last set of front rotors only lasted 24,000 miles. My rotors usually only last like 6,000 miles before they start to warp and shake the car upon braking.

I'm probably going to change my rotors again in the summer, and this time I'm going to get some good ones.

One tip, don't wash your car while the rotors are hot. Or at least don't spray water directly on them... Seems to help.

my work car gets abused a LOT more than what you do and proportionally, i don't go through brakes that fast. it has 16,000 miles and is about to get it's second set of pads. they started grinding yesterday.

get ceramic pads to eliminate the brake dust. also, if you get your brakes hot, don't hold the pedal down long. it will warp your rotors.

I wore my hawk pads down to the rotors and through the rotors in abotu 10k miles, it dependds how hard you are on them

Really? Is there any proof that the water hurts the rotors in any way while they are extremely hot?

Hell yea. Its common knowledge i thought! Hot rotors + water (hose, puddle, whatever) = warpage.

As far as replacements, my i suggest KVR. Im lovin mine! :D

I got about 60k out of my stock pads and Rotors. I just replaced them maybe 1000 miles before I put it away last fall.
