My rear pads have now gone to **** so I've decided to replace all four (the car now has 50k and the fronts were replaced with stock replacements at about 20k) I want to run some higher performance, better quality pads (maybe some Hawks or KVRs) but I'm worried about using them with the stock calipers...if I can keep the cost down I also want to replace my front rotors, which are warped. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can go to ceramic pads on all 4 wheels without worry. I've had them on my non-slotted front rotors for a few years now, and they are still in great shape (no warping). I really didn't like Hawks Pads when I had them. The only gripe I had was that they threw off crazy dust. I would just start the car without moving, and it felt like the rims had to be cleaned again.
ok I'll look into ceramic pads, thanks. I definitely don't want a lot of dusting.

I've decided to go to NAPA to get some Ceramix pads for all four. Does anyone know where I can get some good blank rotors?

Autozone has decent blank rotors. You don't need anything fancy unless you are planning alot of autocross driving.
As for ceramic pads;
Also try autozone. NAPA had the fronts for about $70, as where autozone has them much cheaper. I have them on the front and back, and they throw off very little dust. I will never buy conventional brake pads again!

Hawk HPS are very good brake pads and Hawk HP+ in front with Hawk HPS in the rear will absolutely haul down the car in an instant with no fade (of course the DOT race tires provide the grip that hauls it down to zero really fast ... [img]smile.gif[/img] ). Can't think of any better pads for a daily driver and race camaro in terms of performance for price, but yes they do dust a lot...but not much more than the Performance Friction semi-metallics I have on my Tacoma, another excellent street pad.
Any top quality Autozone stock replacement rotor or brembo blank rotors will work fine - especially for autocross and Open track days... you don't need to waste money on slotted or *especially* drilled rotors since they offer 0% improvement in braking performance over a stock rotor.
yeah man, i work at autozone and can tell ya for a fact that our ceramics run like 36-40 or so for the front set. might not have them for the back however but in all honesty, the front does most of the work anyways. If low dust is a major concert, ceramics are def. the way to go. The better rotor at autozone and id assume at most places are made to max oem specs for thickness. The thicker the rotor, the less likely to warp. just something to think about. good luck on your project.
