  • How much to weld the subframe connectors?

I got a set of the BMR subframe connectors (not the box type)... I was quoated $120 to weld them... that's insane... SO i was just wondering how much is the average cost.

    Thanks

    i could see 80-100$

120 is probably a little much..

basicly they need to pull up alot of the carpet.. and the nweld it in so they dont potentaly burn the carpet..

so.. thats probably 1.5-2 hours labor..
so.. 120 is not insane.. but.. its no deal..

why would you need to pull up the carpet? i thought the sfcs got welded up to the jacking locations? those are raised and not directly on the floor pan. so no need to pull up carpet..

Not sure how big a dif there is from 3rd to 4th gen, but on the 3rd gen the rail they weld to is raised from the floorpan, so you don't need to pull the carpet up.

If your really worried about it you can do two things:

        1) Pour water on the carpet where they will weld so it doesn't catch fire.

        2) Pull up your carpet, it's all "lay-in". A few screws and plastic trim pieces hold it in I believe. Not much effort to do yourself.

120$ really isn't that bad if they do it correctly.

i doubt you need to worry about the carpet berning or melting together or anything. and you should be able to get it done for somewhere in the area of $100. oh and bobrules nice sig. that is one of the greatest movies of all time, up there with fight club and se7en.

I have been quoted everything from 200 to 300 to install subframes, as of right now I have a quote of 200 to install some kenny brown double diamonds, dude said 200 on those because they require a little more work than something that just welds to a front point and a rear point.

Anyway if the place is relatively reputable 120 isn't bad to install some bmr's.

i had tubulars welded on for $20 at a muffler shop near my house. the guy's put on all kinds of SFCs. took about 15 minutes. no discount, nothing. i would NOT pay someone $120 to put a couple of welds on.

I paid around $100. Didn't have to pull up any carpet though.
