• What else causes brakes to feal warperd??

Allight, so I got a good friend of mine to work on my camaro today..

one of the things was replacing the front brakes/pads... becuase i felt that the old ones were warped??

Wellllllll.. I guess I was wrong..

becuase while the condition is better.. it still has a warped like condition..

thi is what it does..

it basicly feals like a warped brake, basicly the car kinda jerks as it slows down..

odd thing is.. there is NO feedback in the stering wheel.. no shaking or pulling..

my friend things there is probably something wrong with a spindle?? this could also explane why my springs are rubbing my shock bodies on my coil over setup...

anyone else think this sounds reasonable?? or had this happen to them??

let me know if you need more info..

You just replaced front brakes, right? Your rear rotors(if you have disks) might be warped.

nahh.. we checked out out by messing with the parking brake.. they work real smooth

its pretty rare to mess up rear rotors on f-bodys..

any other ideas??

I have no clue what causes the brakes to perform that way, but from the sound of it, I have the exact same problem with the brakes on my firebird. I haven't had a chance to check my brake system, but I plan on having my pads replaced soon and getting the system checked out. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

unbalanced wheel possibly,... but you should feel that when you arent braking as well

what type of rotors did you use? ive heard stories (not sure how true they are)about autozone rotors needing to be turned when they were brand new

I had the same problem that you did. My mechanic replaced the rotors and the pads, and it still felt the same. Then he replaced them again, but this time used ceramic pads. Never felt it again.

could be multiple things
1. warped front rotors
2. crapy quality brake pads (switch to ceramic)
3. an unbalanced wheel (check tire pressure)
4. alignment (for some unknown reason
could be off)
5. try to bleed your brake system, there might be air located some where in your system which causes one caliper to work incorrectly

well those are some, i dont think it could be much of antyihg else, good luck with your problem

its probably warped rotors still, when my stock rotors were warped my steering wheel didnt jerk or anything, i replaced the rotors and its fixed! also you cant tell if the rear rotors are warped w/the parking brake, it doesnt use the caliper to hold, it rubs on the inside of the rotor...

i dunno,,,i didnt' have any shaking in my steering wheel at all, it was all in the pedal...replaced all 4 rotors, (under warranty) and i haven't had any problems since. note GM did't replace the pads, only the rotors.

I'd say probably the rear rotors.
How'd you break in the front rotors?

one thing to add...why you may still feel a shaking...the way our calipers are set-sup is that there are only pistons on one side of the caliper this being so the caliper has to be able to "slide" back and forth to a degree on its mounting bracket...is your rotors were infact warped and had stayed like that for a while that constant sliding back and forth with the warped rotor will wear down the metal the caliper rests on..causing it to get stuck there, which can lead to your calipers sticking on one side of the rotor, and when warped rotors and pads are replaced with good ones, the feeling may still be there and may warp your new rotors as well...this system also doesnt let you feel the "warpage" in the rotors until its gets very bad....hope you understood that....

Hey AllTheGoodNamesAreGone. You said you checked the rear rotors by applying the E-brake. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr> nahh.. we checked out out by messing with the parking brake.. they work real smooth

Just thought I would let you know this will not tell you if your rear rotors are warped. The E-brake system does not apply the rear caliper. It has a "drum" or "hat" system in the center or the rotor which applies just like a drum brake. So when you apply the E-brake this will only activate the E-brake (inner drum) and not the caliper. I have seen many people make this mistake before and I just thought I would let you know.
