What the title says. I heard somewhere that you should let the air out of your tires and put new air in every season because of the different temps of air? Is there any truth to this?

Is there such thing as changing your air every season in your tires?

there is some truth to it..
the change in temps cause air in your tire to expand and contract (hot to cold repsectivly)..
that changes the air pressure rated in PSI (pounds square inch) within the tire..
now.. that could lead to unlessisary pressure or a lack of pressure in your tire..
i would NEVER remove all the air from a tire.. unless its on jackstands or off the car.. this will ruin the tire..
what you need to do is maintain a particular amount of pressure.. this is given my the car manufactuer..
just check it reguarly and add/remove as nessisary..
I check mine about 4 times a year... or when i do oil changes..
or when i notice that i have a leak or a low tire..

You're suppose to check it every time you get gas, but who does that? I check it every 2-3 weeks. You don't need to "change" out ALL the air every season because of the different temps, because you check it every so often. If you spend the whole season without checking it, your tires will be low.1999 Pewter Camaro M5<br />Y87 Performance Package, Sport Appearance Package, Diamond Clears<br />Factory SS Hood, Free Ram Air Mod, Whisper Lid w/ K&N Air Filter<br />CarSound Cat 94009, B&B Tri-Flo w/ Quad Tips<br />BMR SFC, BMR STB, KVR Blank Rotors, Hawk HPS Pads<br />Black Painted Calipers w/ CAMARO Decal, 245/50 Dunlop SP Sport 5000<br />20% Rear 35% Side Tint, Red Reflective Inlays, Invincishield<br /><b>Young girls avert their eyes, weak men tremble, Ford dealers faint.</b>

i change my tires every year so i don't have to worry about it. anyway i don't know about every year but you should check it regularly. i check mine about every oil change or so. There may be more than several dealerships that offer this expensive service, which is not covered by warranty. It has to be expensive because the EPA probably requires high-dollar equipment to recycle the HOT AIR!!!!!!2001 Kroger\'s shopping cart<br />MODS-<br />* disabled locking wheel<br />* used Flowmaster and some LS1 parts ... I think there\'s an old Bilstein shock in there too.

btw air does get let out of tires by the change in temperature of the air. You CAN see about 1 psi drop per 10 deg drop in temp. When winter starts we have alot of ppl come into the garage with 32psi tires running 22-24psi because of the change.00\' firebird v6 5spd<br />201rwhp ---- 230 rwtq<br />\"Everyday I grow stronger...and further from you.\"<br />WARNING: Do not take any of my comments seriously unless they are technical in nature and then only at your own risk

No, you don't loose any air.
The colder the air the denser it is, therefore the less pressure. Tire pressure is always measured "cold" - before driving, because as the tire heats up so does the air, and the pressure will rise.Robert - owner www.FirebirdV6.com/CamaroV6.com
