  • My first brakejob

I am not much of a mechanic but like doing stuff myself so I am gonna change the front brake pads on my 96. Any tips or things I should be careful of? I kinda know how to do it since I watched a friend do a brakejob once.

eh brakes arent hard at all, lossen up your wheels
jack the car up, put it on some stands take off tire, loosen the caliper(which btw your gonna need a special wrench for, sold at kragen for 3 bucks)
remove pads by pulling them out
get a c-clamp or something of that extent and compress the cylinder, that on the caliper itself
put on pads and work backwards
u might want to bleed your brakes also,
if yor not to sure on that just ask away
    my hands are tired now

Cool. I did it. And they seem to work well too :D
I am just kind of a chicken when it comes to working on the car b/c I don't know that much and don't want to screw anything up. But I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I do something myself. Next up: installing 3.73s in my SS...jk I don't think I'm ready for that yet but I wish I could do that myself.
