• checked under car, still sagging HELP!

well it was nice out, and i check under my car nothing seem bent or broke but i dont really know what im sopossed to be looking for.my car is sagging, bad. :( between the tire and the fender theres only like 1 inch but on the other side theres alot more about 3 or so. the frame needs to be pulled im sure.but should i get new shocks? the car only has 41k on it so id rather not get shocks just yet if i dont have to.any suggestions will be apreciated. thanks

Might actually be a spring fatigued. You may wanna try checking them first before you just start throwin money at the car tryin to fix it. Just take the rear springs out and set them side by side, see if there's a difference. It prolly shouldn't take more than an hour to take them out, check em, and put em back in. And that's on your first try.

loser:
my car is also a 98 and it had sagging springs from 35k miles when I bought it in 2001. I just broke down and put 1LE springs all the way around it. 2 ways I knew it was sagging, 1st the obvious parked next to another v6 firebird it was visibly lower. 2nd it could not be completely aligned, the driver side front tire had negative camber (the tire was leaned in at the top) even with the setting on the A-arm all the way in. Anyway with 1LE springs I can practically jump curbs now

my whole car was sagging but obviously the front driver sat a little lower than the front passenger.

overall it did have a bit of a lean to it also, but alas this is the problem with weak unibody cars espicially with the top cut off.

if your car was wrecked you might want to get it to a good body shop that can check the frame, it may be tweaked

yea i know the frame needs to be pulled, but i dont think thats gonna completely fix the sagging problem.it just snowed yesterday maybe if my driveway drys up a bit ill go take a look again, but man those lug nuts are a pain.i hate being 14 :( . and btw my car doesnt have t-tops sadly.
thanks alot brad i appreciate it

you should do the T-Top conversion before you take it to the body shop to get the frame pulled that way they can seal up the job and make sure it doesnt rust!

i would but i dont have money.im only 14 so i dont really have a job.i got a paper route to pay for the car.it needs 2 fenders front and back bumpers and a windsheild, plus the frame and what ever is wrong with the shocks/struts/who knows.id love to have t-tops though.i plan on doing most of the work my self, like putting everything on/taking everthing off.thanks for the replys everyone.
