  • 98+ Spring Question

Does anyone know the actual specs for 98+ v6 and v8 front springs? I have heard that the rears are the same, but some people say the fronts are the same, some say they are different.

I've lifted an LS1 and an L36, and I don't think there is much difference in weight. The LS1 is all-aluminum, and that makes a big difference. The only thing that I think would make a difference is where the engine sits in the car (since the LS1 overhangs the centerline of the front tires, and the front of the L36 is practically on the centerline.

    Any thoughts?

                gm parts direct

it lists that 1997 and up had the stiffer springs

so the data base for CV6 is wrong or GMPD is wrong

I'm betting 97 is a misprint. 98 was the year of many changes.

Also, you listed rear spring rates and I was asking about fronts.

ok, I did the v6 to v8 spring replacement and here are my thought. take into fact that my car has been sitting on the same springs for about 104,000 miles, so the springs that i replaced might have sagged a bit. From replacing the front, I noticed about a half inch at the most lift when switching to the v8 shocks and the rear also lifted about half a inch. since both springs off a v8 and v6 are the same, it just goes to show that the springs were sagging. I can't really tell about stiffness because I replaced my shocks and springs at the same time, so I can't give you a good / accurate feedback for stiffness.
