• How Wide of a tire can I fit on an 8" wide wheel?

What do they recommend? is 255 as wide as I can go? or can a force a 275 on there? I'm having problems because I found a great deal on Eagle Alloy 077 for only $375 new (set of 4)! But I can't get a nice fat tire on there which is a huge downer and maybe not worth it?

    Thanks for the help.

The wider you go, the more uneven the wear is. 255 is a good fit. 275s would probably have VERY uneven wear. If traction is the purpose then you won't be helping yourself.

Depends on the diameter of the wheel. You can run a wider tire on a 16 x 8 than you can on an 18 x 8.

Check tirerack.com for recommended wheel widths for different size tires, to get an idea. Pick a tire, like a goodyear for example, then choose "specs". It will show you a table of all the tire sizes, tread widths, section widths, and recommended wheel width for that tire model.

I would not do 275's on an 8" wheel. 255's are the widest I would go.
