  • Need manufacturer part number for poly torque arm bushing...

I ordered the Prothane torque arm bushing from Thunder Racing but the one listed in the V6 section (Part# 7-1609) but the lips were facing towards the driveshaft and the bolt holes don't match up with the clamshell. On my 2000, the lips face away from the driveshaft, not towards. So I sent that one back to Thunder and ordered part# 7-1611. The lips face the correct direction but the bolt holes still don't line up with the clamshell.

Does anybody have a manufacturer part number for a torque arm bushing that works on a 2000 V6 F-Body and the TA lips face away from 1pc driveshaft? Energy Suspension? Prothane? Others?

hmm.. lol.. I was jsut about to get you the stocker PN.. but thats not what you want is it..

I have never heard of anyone having issues with this?? are you sure you dident bend up your clamshell?? those things are pretty crappy stampings. and a major PITA to get to line up right..

I did a torque arm install on an LS1 and i had to dremmle a little of it out to get it to line up.. this was after trying for like literaly 3 hours.. with one friggin bolt not threading properly.. its a PITA some times

in retrospect we figured that it would have been alot easyer to take the whole mechanisim off the tranny and get the bussing inside while its off the car..

    good luck!
and jsut to check did you have the bushing on the right direction??

I can remove/install the clamshell in 5 minutes... that's not the problem. The problem is the bushings' bolt holes don't match up with the clamshell (mounting the bushings to the clamshell, not the clamshell to the tranny). For example: looking at the small bushing facing up: The small stocker bushing bracket has mounting holes (where the rivits where) upper left and lower right. The matching small poly bushing has the mounting holes lower left and upper right. It's the same thing on the other half of the bushing.

I don't have my piece of paper in front of me so I may have those backwards but you get what I'm talking about. There's no way to mount the bushings to the clamshell with those two part numbers in my first post.

Uhhhh. your not supposed to put any bolts throught the bushing. The only reason you see holes is because you drilled out the rivits. The lip out on the outside edge of the new poly mount is what keeps it aligned and in place. You have the right part. Just slip the torque arm throught the cut out in the mount and put the clam shell back on the car.

        Edit:
I didnt realize they started making a two piece design... I have the (older) 1-piece design. My mistake ;)

If I could find a part like that, I'd be in good shape! ;)

Thanks for the pic... people can now see what I'm talking about with the mounting holes.

perhaps try an energy suspension one..

those are the ones that come with the edelbrock torque arm.. they are a single peice.. and seem to work..

I would if I had the correct part number... no one locally carries it and it's getting to darn expensive in shipping to *try* another one without know exactly which one will most definitely fit my car. ;)
