• Installed steel braided brake lines

Ordered the Earl's steel braided brake line kit along with Earl's speed bleeders.

Braided line kit includes: 5 lines
Speed bleeder kit includes: 2 per kit

5 lines..... 1 to each caliper..... and one over the rear diff.... which splits to rear left and rear right caliper

Install was straight forward.

Get WD40/ penetrating lube for ALL brake line connections and bleeders. Spray the SNOT out of them!

After I did this... I took my hammer and lightly tapped the connection to caliper, bleeder and brake line connection. DON'T smash the snot out of it!

Use flare wrenches ONLY for the brake line connections

Use boxed wrenches for the bleeder and line to caliper bolt.

Make sure you REUSE the copper washer which is on the line to the caliper.... if you do not.... it will leak... I found this out.

It was a straight forward install.

I started:
Passenger rear
Driver rear
Passenger front
Driver front

Each time when a line was done... the brake fluid resevoid was topped off.

My brake lines had 95,000 miles on them... I noticed an immediate difference!

I'm happy!

When I have more time... and its warmer... I'll do the rear center one.

Yea I probably should order a kit soon, but I haven't ran it at the track a lot so they are not bad, just something that should be upgraded for mine as well in the future.

Now you can go back to the track all over again and not have to worry about rolling through the lights.

How long for install....... couple hours... MAX?

I was doing a million other things to the bird too.

Probably would take 1 hr max if that is all you are doing.

I don't mind doing them again

Are the Earl's lines rubber coated, or just the steel on teflon?

Lots of dust and dirt out here in the desert, and I'm looking for a set that'll seal that stuff out from the stainless braiding..

I have been wanting to do this swap for the longest time and once again passed on the chance when i swapped pads/rotors 2 or so weeks ago.

The only thing holding me back was the issue with the ABS systems. I think i remember that in order to properly bleed the brakes in our cars we needed access to a "Tech 1" Brake tool????? or something like that anyway.

Sounds like you had absolutely no issues along those lines whatsoever. Is that correct? You just treated it as any other brake line replacement job?

Damn, if so i am so on the SS line replacement.

Those things are nice. I've had mine for almost a year now. They're a little pricey, but it's worth every penny to be able to stop on a dime without sliding when that big a$$ dog runs out in front of you :D

James.... you didn't have to do anything special when bleeding the brakes after changing you lines correct?
