  • Ceramic brake pads

I need to put rear disc pads on my 97 firebird and was thinking about doing ceramic. Anyone have any experiance with ceramic versus factory pads.
    Thanks

Hard to say on imporvement in stopping distance. All pads feel like they stop better when new after break in. Here is something for you though.

Just did the front rotors and pads and my lifetime warranty ceramic pads were cracked all over like a shattered pain of glass. (On the car not quite a year.)

Autozone gave me a full refund for the pads .... guy said he sees alot of the ceramic pads that look like that.

Is that the sign of a bad pad???? I don't know, but i have never seen a regular pad wear like that.

      Just my 2 cents.

I just put ceramic on my slotted/drilled rotors. I used Raybestos ceramic pads.

Never had a single problem with my ceramix brand brake pads. I even went out and bought another full set to have as extra.

I don't think they stop quite as well as normal pads, however, they make NO noise, and NO brake dust and still provide plenty of stopping power. I love mine, I'd buy em again.

if you get them hot they will grab a lot better.. regular braking might be par to possibly a lil worse than stockers, but in a heavy braking situation they should grab better than stock replacement pads
