I am currently running the 1LE swaybars on a Stock 2002 V6 suspension (same as a 99). The only thing I have added besides the sways is a STB.

If you read some of my previous posts you will notice I favor the use of 1LE sways on a daily driver with a stock suspension. With good grippy tires I do not feel the 1LE bars make the V6 suspension unsafe in any way. High speed lane changes are much better, not to mention overall cornering feel.

I'm currently going to race SCCA AutoCross soon and do more learning. As of now though, for a non raced daily driver, the 1LE bars inspire confidence without getting you into trouble. My posi usually keeps me out of any problems in heavy downpours (in tallahassee, FL we have had quite a few).

Naturally, the car still understeers (Foot off gas, wheel cranked to one side in a hard corner in gear). Under throttle it is much easier to go into oversteer though, which is not necessarily a bad thing if you know how to drive and know the limits of your tires.

For inexperienced drivers absolute understeer seems to be what manufacturers try to achieve - mainly since most vehicles now are front wheel drive and won't oversteer without the e-brake. I personally feel these cars handle the 1LE bars very well - but I repeat I have not professionally raced this setup.

Bang for the buck? Worth it for a daily driver? Yes.

Best option for hard core all out racing? Possibly not.

Goodluck in your decision, let us know what you do.

Oh and FirebirdGT, I agree the 1LE bars are most likely every bit as good as the BMRs. I seriously doubt there is a big difference between the two, hollow or solid. I have read many reviews of hollow vs solid bars and most people agree a solid bar is a waste of metal and increases the bar weight too much for its usefulness. The only reason I would buy BMR or Hotchkis bars is if I wanted pretty looking bars
