Well do you need new pads, new rotors, or what?

Are you planning on doing this yourself - or taking it somewhere and having it done?

How many miles are on the bird?

We're in the same boat, mcG.
I got my wheels balanced today and they told me my front brakes were messed up. 90% wear on the outer pads and 20% wear on the inner pads. He said I need new pads and rotors.

I would like to buy the parts and do it myself (or with a friend)... so what are some good parts to buy?

If you're looking to save money in the long run, go to Kragen and get the Raybestos rotors and pads, as needed. The Raybestos stuff is lifetime warranty, so they will replace it for free :D . The pads can't be worn to the backing plates when you exchange them, and I'm not sure about the rotors, but I think they just have to have meat left on them.
My last set of front pads was questionable (one contacted the rotor), but they still took them back.
