  • can sway bars squeak

    every time i hit a bump the rear end makes all kind of noise, it's really getting to me. can it be the sway bars or what.

    yep they can, but lot of things can cause that sqeuk. I list the easy ones.

    could be toehr things, first, make sure your spare is not jsut rubbing aginst some metal to make the sqeuk.

    next check the little black rubber screw looking things that are on the hatch, make sure they are adjsuted right and not ripped apart if so replace them I think I got mine for $0.50 a piece.

    Next consider putting soem electrical tape around the latch on the hatch to prevent that form sqeuking.

    ?Next jack car up take off rear wheel and look above it ther should be a rubber bumpstop that the axle will hit if the car bottoms out, these things are known to rot and fall off, new one is like $12 at gm dealership.

    next is use silicone grease to greae up your sway bar bushings, but I doubt this is whay is causing the sqeuk.

      i have done all those things and the squeaks continue. i don't know what it is. they are getting worst though. could it be the poly bushings on the lca's and the panhard rod..

        did you replace your shocks by any chance recentlY?

          Bingo...the LCA's with poly bushings will transmit a lot of squeaking, especially in cold weather. Mine squeaks a lot too for the first few minutes of driving.
