  • Need help quick (torque arm bushing)

I'm in the middle of replacing my torque arm bushing and have a bit of a problem. I removed the upper bolt for the casing and pulled that half off and am in the middle of drilling out the rivets. I have the bottom bolt mostly out but stopped when I realized that it looks like there is a third bolt in the middle which one side is blocked by the torque arm it's self. Do I have to remove the whole torque arm? Or am I just smoking to much crack and theres only two bolts. Also if theres any tips I would appreciate it.

I hammered the hell out of the thing, until I had a revelation. Dremel. I dremeled right through the side of the rivet-seats (Still took a while and chipped many discs.) YOU NEED A CORDED DREMEL. I fought with my cordless, recharging, etc, until I finally went to wal-mart and for $20 friggin' dollars bought a 35kRPM dremel ... Cut through the side of the rivet seats like butter. Then yank off the rubber stuff, cram the bushing with grease (grease everywhere everywhere ...), and put it in. It was surprisingly easy -- torque arm didn't particularly move up in the floorboard much. Just don't catch anything on fire or stuff like that when working with the dremel.

I found it a little easier to simply remove the mount from the tranny and use a drill on the rivets.

Oh sure, now everyones in a hurry to reply. :D

I had to figure it out by myself cause my car had to be back together by sunday. For reference of others who plan on doing this. Jack up the front and rear, this removes tension from the ta and allows you to move it around. If you want to remove the bracket your best off putting a jack under the tranny and lowering it. I tried my hardest to get that bracket out other wise and the dimensions just wouldn't allow it. Then remove the rivets how ever you see fit, I used a drill. One of the hardest parts if I was to do it again would be getting the bracket back on over the mount. I don't see this as possible without another person. I noticed some difference but not alot, but it was well worth getting rid of that annoying clink when it went into gear.
