  • ABS Inop, wheel speed sensor?

Recently, my ABS (low trac) has been coming on under normal braking conditions. After it does this a couple times, I will loose my brake pressure for a split second, and the ABS INOP light comes on. A while back, I was told that my wheel speed sensor was not working correctly, but once the codes were cleared, the problem didn't occur again until just now. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you go about fixing it? Something I can do myself, and if not, what does the damage look like?
    Thanks all.

I had to replace the left front speed sensor. You can't just get the sensor, you have to get the hub and sensor. It was more than $200 for the part. Just letting you know incase that's your problem.

Mine has been doing this recently too, and I asked someone else and he said it happened to him and he just took out the ABS relay and everything worked fine still when he sold the car 3 years later, just don't have ABS brakes anymore. I might try it but it hasn't done it for a couple days now so I'm gonna leave it alone for a while.

I have the same problem with the ABS/Low Traction light. Took my car to the dealership and the passenger side speed sensor is bad to gotta replace it.

I'll probably take it into a stealership or a brake shop and see what code it's throwing. Until then, I'm going to take out the ABS relay, but I could use some direction on finding it. Thanks for the help, and I sure hope the wheel speed sensor isn't the problem - sounds like an expensive fix.

the relay is easy to find, open the hood, find the box labeled "Relays & Fuses" and read the label to find the ABS relay and yank it out.
