  • Spring Question

I was thinking about getting the eibach pro kit springs along with the SLP take-off shocks. What do you guys think about that combination? Also, where is a good place to buy the eibach springs for cheap? :D

And how much will the new springs hurt my 1/4 time by?

You need to address the shorter travel as a result of installing the Pro-Kit springs. SLP take-offs aren't meant for that shorter travel.

What do you think about the Eibach Drag Launch springs?? Will I need to get better shocks for that? I was thinking about that because it says that it helps for drag racing. How much will that lower the car? And where is a good place to order these?

I think that one reason that lowering springs COULD hurt your 1/4 mile time is due to the loss of traction when the rear suspension changes with the new springs. The LCA Relocation brackets will make the LCA's parallel to the ground again with the lowering springs, helping to eliminate wheel hop. When the springs are on, without the relocation brackets, the front of the LCA is lower than the back, which results in poor traction. The LCA's will correct this problem.

Where can I get the LCA relocating bars? And what's a good deal for them?

So you'll address lowering part of the springs. What about the stiffness part of the springs. That will hurt you in launching also.

What are you trying to accomplish? Better drag times or just lower it? You can't have both. Eibach Pro kit or Drag kit aren't going to improve your times. Everyone says not to waste money on the Drag kit. Pro kit is for looks.

If you want something to improve your times then maybe look into drag shocks first. KYB AGX for $335 per set of 4 at shox.com. These are 8 way adjustable. They should give you some versatility. Start with full soft in the front and test and tune from there. If I didn't have fresh shocks already I'd take a look at those myself.

For springs. The V6 rear springs are good on a street launch, cause the car squats more and your street tires won't take as hard a hit. This will soften the hit to the tire. At the track with nittos, the V8/1LE springs should be faster. I haven't really though about the ultimate springs for drag racing. Our stock combinations(V6, V8, 1LE) already give us a wide variety of options. I know that anything stiffer then 1LE will most likely not work. And anything softer then V6 will also not work. V6 springs handle like crap on the street so I went to the other extreme. My next mod is tires though.

I can't wait to get some nittos and hit the track to test my theory. My car used to lift very high with V6 suspension. Now it stays flat. Of course street traction is not there. But I do ride on all season GAs so I can't expect traction.

                          Hey Dom.
I at the most don't want to hurt my times. But want to have way better handling.
This is what I was thinking of putting. Tell me what you think.

                          SLP Bilsteins or SLP Take-offs
                          1LE LCA's
                          BMR LCA Relocating Brakets

I was just going to get those for now. I need some opinions on the difference between the SLP Bilsteins and the SLP Take-offs.
Looking at my new rims on my car I don't like that gap between my tires. So I DEFINATELY want to lower it.
                          Here's some pics...

If you want to use the Pro Kit then get the regular Bilsteins and get them revalved by Sam Strano to match the Pro Kit. Also ask him about KYB AGX with Pro Kit. Tell him what you want and he'll recommend something for you.

SLP takeoffs are just stock Decarbons not meant to handle the Pro Kit.

                              Dom,
What difference is the SLP bilsteins compared to the regular one? If its only the stiffness I'll go with the SLP version. I'm kind of short on cash right now so I'm trying to find the less expensive way possible to lower my car with affect my 1/4 time.
