so here's the background on my car first before i tell you guys about my problem...
'97 V6 Camaro... 91,000 MILES
and I've treated it pretty well, did my share of speeding, lol, only got one ticket 3 years ago, but it wasn't pretty... but generally I've been really good to my car and always checked my parts and not ragged on it very much, or atleast not TOO much.
Oh yeah, and Stock Suspension... 'sept for Goldine Springs and Monroe Springs... but the noise has been going on before I put these on.
OOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKK...
so my car is driving me nuts. i have a MULTIPLE sqeaks in my car... and it's been going on for about 6 months now, getting worse... i'm going to have to take a lil' time to explain it, so you guys can completely understand what it is i am hearing!! so here we go:
Ok... first of all, I usually don't hear this noise when my car has been sitting for a long time. For example, when I go to work in the morning and I start driving there is no noise.
That being said... the noise does happen when I have been driving for a while. For example when I come home from my girlfriends house... which is about 50 miles away... I usually drive a pretty decent speed from her house, cuz the drive is just annoying. so I usually drive around 80-85... and peaking at about 90. I will consitently drive that speed the whole way. The noise tends to be something I hear when I have been driving high speeds 80+, but it's not limited to that, it happens too when I have been driving on any long trip really. I will notice the noise when ever I come to a stop. Here's how the noise works:
I come to a stop, and when press the accelerator, I here this kinda squeaking sound (almost a mechanical sound crossed with a sqeak) go rat-a-tat until i get to about 10-15 mph and it stops. when i come to a stop it will do it again. as I go over bumps and slight road dips between 10-30 mph, it will sqeak.
I took my car to a local shop and they could not find the noise or the problem. (Of course, everytime something is wrong, it never shows up at the shop though... even when I try to make it make the noise.) I think the noise may not have showed up (again this is a theory) at the shop b/c they did not test my car at high speed and for a decent duration of time. Anyways, they told me at the shop they would hold on to it for a day and check all my connections (ex: subframe connecters, U-joints, etc...). So yeah, they said everything looked find and couldn't find a problem at the time. So my question is... what in the world is that noise?
I appreciate any feedback you guys can give me!!! Especially if you have a higher mileage f-body and maybe know what i'm talking about!!! thanks everyone!
