• 1LE 32mm vs PF52 Filter

Will my PF52 extra-long oil filter work with my newly aquired 32mm swaybar (1LE)? I just bought it and it hasn't arrived, I'm just wondering if I'll need to go back to the stock filter or not - I heard a rumor a while back that my PF52 wouldn't work anymore with the bigger bar...

Anyone figure this out yet?

Cardinal, yes it will fit. The bar is the same size to the naked eye. It's only sticking out 1mm more in the filter direction. 1mm is not that much.

Mustang Eater, the oil filter filters the oil basically. It removes metal particles and impurities so that a cleaner oil can get into the engine. I don't know if anyone has a oil filter install guide for you. It's quite simple though.

i think he was referring to why the PF52 filter...
if i'm not mistaken, it's larger, the one they use on the 4.3L engines. just a litle better

Cardinal already said it's just a larger version. I didn't know what else to say.

I should have put a smiley face or two in there.

I was hoping it was some brand that somehow magically boost oil pressure. Even that 4.3L oil filters due not look tath much bigger if I remeber correctly.

Our stock PF47 filters are only 3" long, the PF52 is an extra 2" long. This allows for freeer-flowing oil, longer oil life, more pressure handling capability of the filter, and overall cleaner oil. The filter is the ACDelco PF52, it is used on 4.3Ls and Turbo Buicks and it fits the same threads as a PF47 - trust me .

If you do a search you lll find a previous post I made on this.

Another side benefit to running the larger oil filter is that it holds an extra 1/2qt of oil, making the 3.8L hold a perfect 5qts instead of leaving 1/2 qt in the bottle.

So, I get better filtration and all that by using the PF52, not to mention I don't waste any oil like I used to, and it might even prolong my engine life... To top it off, it doesn't cost me anymore to do this either! Go buy a bigass filter :D

Thanks again Cardinal...You the man! I was wondering if they had a longer filter for our cars, because the filters for V8s come in two sizes, but I couldn't find bigger ones for ours. Now I know where to find them .

Oh yea. I got that filter and 1LE bar and they are nowhere near each other. I want to see the crack head that had them touching somehow.

PF47 is used on most of GM's V6 engines, as well as many 4-cylinder applications. The PF52 Cardinal is referring to is slightly taller, and is essentially the same filter, but is used on alot of GM's SUV's, mostly 4-wheel drives (such as the 4.3L V6 & several V8 applications).
