  • what is this called?

    the two bars connected to the axle in horizontal v-shape.

    [edit: tried to draw a diagram... nevermind. :rolleyes: ]

    umm... running along the length of the car? i'm guessing you mean the torque arm...

      torque arm....attaches to the tranny right

        I believe he's talking about the panhard rod or track bar. That makes the lower side of the V. The other support ties the panhard mount to the other side of the frame. It makes the top half of the V.

          no. i know what a torque arm is, it runs under the driveshaft, to the tranny. the thing im talking about is the two bars that sit parallel on top of the rearend. that are angled like this: &gt;. i think funkz is right. in any case, what does it do? mine is bent and rusted, should i replace it?

              Yea, panhard rod. Keeps the axel from shifting left to right. If yours are bent, get a new one. There are plenty of aftermarket companies that sell them.
