  • Properly Installing Rotors

I'm buying new stock rotors for my car, I wanted to get an aftermarket pair but for a good set is well over more then I have. When I install my new rotors. Do I have to rotate them? How do I go about doing this. What all do I have to do after putting my rotor on, brake on, and tire back on. To properly do everything right. I don't want my rotors to warp or get messed up.

Mild stops if possible for the first 50 miles... Read baer's brake conditioning guide, its on their site but I think they renamed it and stuck it in the FAQ now.

You shouldn't hafto turn the rotors before installing them, but it wont hurt if you have it done - sometimes the casts aren't perfect or they warp during shipment in their boxes.

It would be a good idea to replace your pads if you're over 45,000miles too. You might consider bleeding the whole brake system as well, just to have everything as new as possible. But just popping off the old rotors and putting on the new ones should work fine, its really just that simple!

Make sure that an impact wrench isn't used to torque the wheels. Impact wrench = warped rotor. As Cardinal said, take it easy on them for the first bit.
