• Aftermarket Steering wheel?

Who has aftermarket steering wheels?
What is our hub size?

I am wanting to get rid of my airbags and probably ditch the stock wheel, but what are my options?

You could probally talk to some of the companies that do aftermarket steering wheels and see what ya need. You would think there would be some choices, they should have adapters that will fit wheels to our cars.

I've seen momo and sparco adapters/wheels, but they are pricey.

Just wondering what options I have out there!

Most of the adapters are about the same. I believe that you can use Grant steering wheels with Sparco and Momo hub adapters.

I put a Sparco Muguello steering wheel on my car abotu 2 years ago. Send me an IM if you have any questions.

What did you do about the "Airbag" light?

Airbag light will stay on unless you remove the light.

^^^yup...nothin you can do about that but pull the light...its within the circuit board so its not like you can just find the wire that runs to it and snip it...you have to remove the bulb...keep in mind...i have been told that if one airbag is dead the whole airbag system doesnt work..so your passenger one wont either if you disable the driver's ...thats just what i've been told

That's true...when the whole system is down, no airbags at all. Just more reason for 5-point harnesses.

For the airbag light there is an easy solution that will let you keep the passenger side airbag fully functional and not cause the AirBag light to stay on. The passenger side resistance of the SIR system is 2.6 ohms per factory manual. You basically make a 2.6 ohm jumper from the other end of the connector which went to the steering wheel and it as if the airbag is still there and functioning normal. I used two 5.1 ohm quarter watt resistors looped in parallel (5.1/2 = 2.55 ohm) to do the trick. Works perfectly (ABS light blinks at ignition position like normal then stays off when running) and passenger airbag is not affected one bit.

I think if you put a aftrmarket steering wheel in your car, it will fail inspection, cause it doesnt have an airbag anymore. Im not sure, but pretty sure. Cause I had a nice shiny GT grant sterring wheel I wanted to use, till I knew about that. :(

There are TONS of cars out there without airbags, what would that have to do with inspection?
