  • Goodyear F1 GS-D3s vs. BFGs T/A KDW

I am trying to come to a conclusion and these are the two tire I think I have come down to. I was checking customers ratings on Tirerack.com and the Goodyears have ratings of:

    Goodyears:
    Dry- 8.9
    Wet- 8.8 Hydro-Resistance- 9
    Tread Wear- 8.2
    Tread Wear- 280
    Fronts: $156
    Rears: $232

    BFGs G-Force T/A KDW:
    Dry- 9.1
    Wet- 8.1
    Hydro Resistance- 7.8
    Tread Wear- 6.9
    Tread Wear- 300
    Fronts: $145 (DiscountTire.com)
    Rear: $246 (DiscountTire.com)

I am looking for something with good wet weather performnce since I live in Florida. Let me know what you all think about these two tires. I have also looked into the Kumho Ecsta MX, but the tread life is a 220. I am looking for something that will last a little longer. Also, the last set I was looking at was the Potenza's S-03 Pole Position, but I dont care for those that much. Again, thanks for your opinions and info on these tires.

I have KDWs and I love them but I wish that they were a little sticker at the strip.

I'm sure that I would tear up the road course because they handle like a dream.

Next time I plan on going cheaper on the tires and buying a nice set of drag radials.

IMO the BFG's are the better choice. Goodyear's are notorious for quick treadwear, but they are still good tires. According to Grassroots Motorsport (www.grassrootsmotorsport.com) Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's are almost just as good as BFG's and quite a bit cheaper, so you might also want to consider those.

BFG's would be the better option by far in that case. Hell, Kumho MX's wouldnt be a bad option if you're looking for a max performance tire.

I actually looked at the Kumho MXs. They have basically the same tread pattern as the BFGs, but the tread wear on the Kumhos are 220 where as the tread wear the BFGs are 300. I was hoping someone has a pair of the Goodyears on there car. I do however like the tread pattern of the F1 GS-D3. The angled treads especially in a wide 275 tire would look awesome. Though, main thought is on the Wet performance. My BFGs Radial T/As I have on the stock 15in rim are horrible. They break loose at least 5 times everytime it rains. And that is with very little gas. Thanks for the info!

I was on the other board and Les Schwab bought 13K
overproduced F1s and has them for $87.00 +S.H. and only in one size 275X40X17. Bargain Shipping is about $30.00 each.

That stinks. I need 275/40-18. Oh, well. Thanks for the info though.
