• sway bars from GMpartsdirect.com??

hello everyone,
i am in need of a new rear sway bar, and figured that while i am at it i should at least try and get something better than stock. i have a 96 3.8 firebird. i might even replace the front one. i found part numbers on this site (for the 1LE package)and emailed a question to GMpartsdirect.com to make sure the PN are the same, since they dont really put a description of the part with the PN. they sent me different PN for the rear sway bar and endlinks, i forgot to ask about the front sway bar. here are the PN they sent: 10018212 rear stabilizer shaft with F41 heavy duty
10164176 rear link kit 2 required with F41.

would calling a dealer help. i dont want to get new stock cuz there is a fbody salvage yard in the area that i can get used stock very cheap ($20 for rear sway bar complete).

thanks for any help

Do you just want a stock V6 bar? A stock V8 bar? or a 93 model 1LE rear bar?

i would like one that is better than the stock v6 sway bar. i was looking at the 1LE cuz it was listed on this site in the mod encyclopedia. is it better than the stock V6, and is there a difference between stock v6 and v8 swaybars. what exactly was the 1LE option. any part numbers and information is greatly appreciated, seeing as my car has been off of road for almost 3 months now, due to the insurance company. i really want it back on the road.

Careful. Bars work with each other and with your springs. There is no such thing as a "better rear bar" without considering how everything works together.

Changing bars is one of the most powerful and tricky suspension mods. It ain't easy to get it right.

Well if you're going to upgrade the rear bar you must upgrade the front to something more substantial. A V8 rear 19mm with a 1LE 32mm front should work okay - however I run a 32/21 setup (the biggest 1LE offered, was for 1993 cars).

You can do what you like, you probably won't hurt anything going with stock or 19mm back there.

The F41 suspension is the stock suspension for the V6. Those are NOT 1LE part numbers. The Tech Database has all the 1LE part numbers you may want.
