  • What is the difference?

What is the difference between shocks that come on our cars and the shocks that come on V-8 models?
I know the rear sprngs on V-8 models are the same as the ones on our 98+ V-6 models. The front spring rates are different though.
Is it almost the same when it comes to the shocks?
I have been thinking about upgrading to a set of V-8 springs and shocks. Whould it be a good idea?
Now i am not expecting my car to ride on rails, but i would like to improve the handling a bit without messing up the ride and breaking the bank.

i think the car may sit hif=gher in the front with Z springs on it. shocks should be ok though just stiffer.

you dont have the wieght it going to thought off your handling and going to put the front up about 1 inch.

or add about 150 punds to the front of the car lol

Well if i am going to buy a set of 4 V-8 model shocks, it would make sense to match them up with the V-8 srpings, no?
Or would V-8 shocks be ok with factory V-6 springs up front?

Can anyone else shine some light on this subject for me?!

Yeah just listen to what he said. Stiffer V8 springs up front will throw off your handling and the car with sit higher without the extra weight up front. As I recall, the Al LS1 doesn't even weigh much more than our V6, but it'll still be different. V8 shocks, yeah... that should be fine.

I have the v8 struts up front and the v8 shocks in the back, but the stock v6 springs. I noticed that you can feel the road a bit more but it doesnt bounce or anything like that and seems to handle a little bit better, get the SLP takeoffs, thats what I did and its worked very well for me.

Well, I have the stock V8 springs front and rear, and V8 shocks, and I have no problems.

I would know since I converted a V8 car into a V6 car. My car sat an 1 1/2" higher with the six banger in it. I thought it rode like crap also. It also sat funny and I always thought the car was going to launch upwards instead of down the road. I was much happier when I put the V6 springs in it.
