• OPINIONS PLEASEEEE

Hey everyone, well after bothering manufacturers on the phone, posting here, and searching our archives (which work VERY well for pretty much anything I need)for the past 2 weeks, I have changed my mind on my initial setup. Once again, I am looking for better and stiffer handling, less body roll, and less nose dive. I dont do 1/4 miles or anything, I would just like to have a better handling car. I am thinking of.....

SHOCKS
Bilstein HD's all around

SPRINGS
Keeping Stock setup because I do not want to raise the car(v8 or 1le's), or lower the car (any v6 perf spring stiffer than stock)

SWAY BARS
32mm front, 19mm Rear, suggestions on where to get would be great.

In the future, will probably do a strut tower brace, and amybe other things.

32/19 sways, poly endlinks and bushings
Bilstein HDs all around
Stock springs.

That will be very noticeable and will work well for everyday driving

Sounds good to me ;)

You might like some 2 point subframe connectors too, people tend to like how they change the car's chassis feel. The bilsteins ride really well just as-is on stock V6 springs I think.

I'm doing something similar, i.e. keeping stock springs, but I'm going with the Koni SA's up front so that I can use the lower spring perch. In the rear I'm going Bilstein HD, but I'm removing the donut from the top of the spring to lower the car all around about .75" -- doing this allows me to keep the stock comfy spring rate, linear too, and still get an adjustable front suspension for varying racing conditions, without compromising the ride or the amount of $$ in my wallet

i suggest stiffening the chassis first. ur car will handle a lot better if it has a stiff chassis to work against, and all those little bumps u feel will either disappear or will be barely noticable. stb and sfc's do this best for the lowest cost. stb allows less nose dive in braking and flatter cornering, and sfc's allow even less nose dive, better cornering, and better launching off the line or out of a corner. swaybars will accentuate bumps since it resists 1 wheel moving up w/o the other. I noticed this from my 1LE swaybars. the rest of the setup seems logical for what u want, so stick w/ it unless u change ur mind on ne of it.

Thanks, as far as SFC's, is there a certain brand I should go with, or size?

Also, I am having trouble finding 19mm Sways for sale, GMPD.com says they need a vin number, but my stock one is 15mm.

Well my shocks and struts are in, now for sway bars, I want 32mm, and 19mm, I know I can get them at ADDCO, but it will be more expensive than my shocks and struts. I have checked on EBAY and here and LS1.com so far with no luck. One more thing, DOM, you mentioned Poly endlinks and bushings. I assume you mean Polyurethane? Do brand new swaybars come with them? Any suggestions or recomendations are great. Thanks.

im pretty sure most times when you get a new bar it will come with endlinks and bushings.. but if you buy one used it may or may not... get a set of prothane endlinks and bushings.. they are softer than the energy suspenension stuff.. and a lil movement is good for swaybars.. they are made to give a little .. if they dont thats how you break stuff

Well, I will finely be taking my car in Friday for the installation of the Bilsteins. I called 4 places. One said 440, one said 380, one said 300, the final place said 200. It was a referral from a friend. I asked them if they do a lot of work on F bodies, and they guy said of course, they have some in the shop now, along with a couple corvettes and a mustang with a chevy motor in it??? My friend knows a couple guys with totally modded Formulas and thats the only place they go.

you may not want to do sway bars right away, unless you are doing some autocross or something. try out the bilsteins and stuff first.

sway bars will not allow your car to give as much in the corners, and although you will get a stiffer turn, the outer tires will not give as much, and you risk the chance of sliding more.

give the bilsteins a shot, and see if you like them first. then whip the car around the backroads and have a little fun.

swaybars are something you may want to rethink.

Check the 1LE numbers in the tech section and buy the sways from GMPartsDirect.com. I went with 1LE rear springs and HAL shocks and front springs. This way I can lower the front of my car while leaving the back at stock height. The fronts are adjustable so you could leave them at stock height. I have Competition Engineering SFC's and love them. They are boxed but are covered by my gfx...so if you don't have gfx...get some tubular ones. I would look at LCA's and a PHR for your chassis strengthening as well. Maybe a cheap strut tower brace as well. A roll cage would be the best stiffening but not everyone is that deciated to it as it is a pain to install and deal with.
