Squeaking can be an indication that your struts and shocks are worn out. How many and what kind of miles do they have on them? A couple of tests you can perform yourself - Visually inspect the components. Are they leaking? Any dents or damaged or missing parts? Go to each corner of the vehicle and push down on the car and get it bouncing pretty well. When you let go does it keep bouncing? It should stop and steady out almost immediately. If you answer yes to any of these questions, it's probably time to have them replaced.

      well i just rolled 32000miles
i would think shocks would last longer than that...
hmmm. off to go inspect my car...

do u think i could take it somewhere and get a free inspection??

Fbody shocks are not great and tend to be the first components which need replacing. They tend to be half worn or more by 30,000 miles... sadly.

I'd probably put some new shocks on it, even if you just get some $50 decarbon takeoffs to run for another 30K miles.

I know my shocks are bad since they make noises over speed bumps. I'll have them replaced next weekend by a shop when I have my rear brakes looked at since they squeek. Any thing I need to bring them other than the take-offs?

One thing I tried was the bounce test. They dont bounce, but the when I apply pressure to the rear of the car, it makes a creaking noise...like a bed spring. I know the shocks are bad...does this mean the springs are too?

A creaking noise can come from a number of places and doesn't necessarily indicate anything is bad. In a lot of cases, it's a "noisy" bushing (anti-sway bar, etc). It's very unlikely the springs are bad and they probably wouldn't creak even if they were. They would just sag.

Maybe I'll change the bushings too then when I replace the shocks. The dealership said the bushings were "dry" when I took my car in and they said they greased them. Couple days later, noise from the back again. I've learned to just live with the noise...
