Im estatic right now about my new swaybar. i just put it on and did a test drive it makes the car seem slower actually because you have soo much faith in it and at break-neck speed manuvering your tires make not-a-sound. i was going around a hard corner freeway tranfer ramp at 75-80mph and it didnt even feel that fast until i noticed i had to excert alot more breakeing force to slow the car. the car is a little twitchy it seems now and that dosent seem right cause i couldnt tighten the steering ratio soo i must be that the weight transfer is soo sudden. awsome mod pretty cheap looks hot easy to install in 30-45 mins and actually makes a difference. Its non-exsistant when driving straight or in small turns soo drivability is still there but on the edge it just wakes up i even hurt my back turning 90 degrees on streets fast as heck too much fun!!!

What did you put on the car, what sway(s) and what size?2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

I installeed bmrs front swaybar 32mm solid. i also have qa1 struts and eibach springs but i havent installed them yet. my stock swaybar was fugged up the holes where the endlinks connect to were rusted thru and about to break off no other suspention mods, but i plan on a tubular frontend (k member front uper and lower a arms) corvette spindles and zo6 brakes, sfc stb lca phr, maybe a rear sway bmr 21mm solid and thatll do it for a while.\"Ride this MF till the wheels fall off, live yo life\"<br />Martin Lawrence

So do you feel that the 1LEs are a worth while investment, cause i want to get some swaybars, but i don't want to spend money on the 1LEs and have them not make a good difference, and then just have to buy new better ones.2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

I got my 1LE swaybar from ebay for $25. I bought the prothane bushings myself, and installed it a few weeks ago. All-together, I'm guessing it came to $60 for all of the front swaybar stuff (swaybar & shipping, bushings & shipping), and I would HIGHLY recommend it!sigpic

Note that Ray and Hockeyman installed the BMR and 1LE _front_ bar only. Front and rear bars are totally different animals, used for completely different purposes. On stock V6 springs the 21mm _rear_ bar (sold both as BMR and as "1LE" but is actually not the real 1LE) will screw up your handling.
With stock V6 springs a 21 rear will cause oversteer in the very situations when you want oversteer least (emergency swerve, slippery pavement, hard acceleration off a corner).
Personally I think it's unsafe.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

i already had wider tires, LCAs, and the pan hard rod (which were really just for the launch actually)...and i went with Spohn sway bars front and rear and it made SUCH a difference in handling...got em from fasttoys.net...they're awesome<b>12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO<br /><a href=\"http://www.mysickcamaro.50megs.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com</a><br />Best ET: 12.82@103<br />Best MPH: 104.7<br />Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC</b><br /> </font><blockquote><font size=\"1\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">quote:</font><hr /><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Originally posted by Shodown:<br /><strong>1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">

So you are all saying that until i do some other suspension mods that the frount sway bar is cool, but to hold off on the rear?2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

The size of the front bar has only a small impact on the proper size of the rear. That is because the front bar increases camber control, so any increase in understeer is small. On the rear any increase in bar stiffness directly increases oversteer.
On stock V6 springs I'm pretty sure a 21 rear is too big. I think a 19 is too big, and some people who have tried it agree. The knowledgable V8 guys generally don't change rear bars at all, unless they have huge front springs.
Swaybars are about the trickiest suspension mod, and it is easy to screw up your handling with a big rear bar.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

I have a 22mm hollow rear bar (similar to a 21mm soild bar), but I also have a 35 mm hollow front bar (bought as a set inculding polyurathane bushings). I think there is very little down side to going big on sway bars 1st, then if you want more, fine tune with springs. I tried front sway bar only but did not get much improvement in cornering until the car was tuned to neutral by adding the rear bar. If after testing (in a safe manner) how the car handled, you wanted less oversteer (ie more likely to push than to spin, or you wanted more weight on the rear inside tire coming out of a turn), you could put the OEM rubber bushings back on the rear sway bar end links. BTW, the first place it will show if you have too much oversteer dialed in is at the end of a long straight under hard braking. If you begin to turn while still braking and the rear end snaps around (and you go spinning off into the dirt) you have too much oversteer (for how your driving the car).
