My brakes don't seem to be stopping the car like they used to. I used to be able to activate the ABS on a quick stop, and I can no longer do this. If it was simply from improved traction it would be fine, but I don't think it is. The performance is also inconsistant, sometimes they grab better than others.
The pedal feels a little spongy, and I can actually bottom it out. I can feel the pedal hit some sort of physical stop, not just a pressure build up, when I press down. Can anyone else do that on their car? Fluid level in master cylinder is fine. I haven't had the lines opened, so I don't know where air would be from. The current rotors and pads have about 8k miles on them, and look to be fine. I don't see any leaks either. Would a booster or vacumm problem cause any of this? Would that allow me to bottom out the pedal?
I really feel like the car is becoming un-safe with the increased stopping distance and inconsistant performance. Any info, past experience, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :D And it is a 94 with drums in the rear, incase that will make a difference.
