  • Are Z28 Take-Off Shocks/Struts a Good Idea?

I've been reading some of the threads about these, are they're just used to replace old stock shocks/struts or do they offer any advantages in the handling department?

I just put them on a month ago. They only have a couple miles on them (from SLP) so they are essentially almost new. They will feel a ton stiffer if your current shocks are shot, which mine were. But I notice that they are stiffer than the stock ones were brand new as well. I think the V8 shocks are valved somewhat stiffer. But, there is still no handling advantage. For that you would need other aftermarket suspension components and better high performance shocks.

They're the same as what comes on 98-02 cars. If your shocks are shot, they work well. However I recommend instead spending a full $300 and buying the Bilstein HDs if possible. They will last a lifetime.
