  • My front end is making a thumping noise...

When I am driving my front end at about 30 makes a thump thump noise like i am running over little pebbles in the road. a thump a second. and as i go faster it thumps faster. i have one new rotor and one turned one. they were warped before. I changed my front tires to good tires and the old set and new set were both balanced. its not the tires or the brakes, the lug nuts are tight and my rims arent bent. I have 32-35 psi in all tires and my steering is fine. it doesnt thump as I turn, but only thumps in a straight line.

my friends blazer did this when his bearings went out but it was more of a clunk than a thump so I am lost. also my car doesnt pull to any side, but will only pull if the road is sloped which is normal for this car and i think all cars.

what else should I check out.

Sounds exactly like a wheel bearing.

I don't think you can replace just the bearing, I think you have to replace the entire hub.

I have front a-arms from another camaro, should I try those and see if they work.

I don't see how it could be an A-arm unless you wrecked and bent one. Jack up the front wheels and check for play side-to-side (tie rod) or top-to-bottom. (ball joint) You could also have your alignment checked professionally but what you describe really sounds like a bearing. Only other thing I could think of causing that would be a bad tire (broken belt) but you said you replaced those.

july 4th i hit a ditch pretty hard and that ended up bending the front crossmember (under oil pan) it still drove fine and I only had to replace the radiator. anyways. this didnt seem to happen until about two months ago. once i take it to lesscwhab their guys will most likely go "oh uhhh that tingy is bent and that is the problom fo sure"

it might be but the cross member is dented and not bent. maybe a bent tie rod or something though. i dunno

i will have it checked tomorrow if i get the time
