  • Where's this clunk coming from?

I've got a clunking/knocking noise coming from the driver's side rear suspension when I go over bumps. I tightened the top of the suspension nut so it's not that. My next thought is maybe bushings. Any ideas?

I'm thinking of getting new Bilstein HDs but I would like to figure out where the noise is coming from before I start spending money.

O.K., after going under the car and having someonelse do a bounce test, it looks like the sound is coming from the top of the spring assembly. I can feel the vibration of the sound when I place my hand on the spring.

Could it be that the rubber insulator is not working properly or perhaps the rear spring seat has moved - any ideas how to go about correcting this without removing the spring?
