• What kind of tires do people recommend?

I recently bought 17x9.5" zr-1's. I need good tires that will have nice traction for I go to tracks and run road courses, but i also use this car as a 4-5 month of the year daily driver. I don't want to get Kuhmo Ecsta 712's because I want tires that will keep tread better. Anyone have Kuhmo Ecsta MX's? or how about Pirelli P-zero Nero M+S or Pirelli P7000 Supersports?

Please give any feedback that would be useful about any tires that you have owned and what kind if PROS/CONS you have about them.

Thanks in Advance,
Scott

I just got the Pirelli P Zero Neros, 245/50/16 on all 4 corner and I LOVE THESE TIRES! I noticed a huge difference in handling and driveability (if thats a word) with these tires over my old Remmington tires.
I have yet to find a con for them... i've had them for about 5,000 miles and havn't had a problem. Great tires.

I haven't run any of the ones you asked about. I am running the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires. They are a huge improvement over the stock tires.

Excellent dry and wet traction. I've drag raced on them and autocrossed on them. Drag racing I pulled 1.9 60' times on them.

I did back to back Evolution Phase 1 and Phase 2 in one weekend on them too. About 60 autocross runs in one day.

Wet traction on the highway is great too. You have to really really try to get them to break loose (acceleration or cornering).

After about 4000 miles I can't tell they've worn noticeably.

I have had the Kuhmo Supra Ecstas before and they are definitely cheap, but wear very quickly.

Then I switched to a set of Nitto NT450s and loved them.

Now, I have Goodyear F1 G2-D3s and they are definitely the best so far.

We have BFG KDWs on the WS6 and BFG KDs on the Vette....both of those tires perform very well.

Well, I've been using my Dunlops for 70k miles now. It has VERY Good Traction compared to the stock. It is not unidirectional, but one side has to be the inside and one has to be outside, forgot the term for it. The treads and sidewalls looks nice, makes the car look more sporty than other tires out there of the same size. I am about to replace them because of an alignment problem, if it wasn't for that, it prolly would see another 10k. The major pro is the life of the tires. 340 for tread wear and A for temp and traction.

I have the Goodyear GS-D3's on my TA and I love them. Nice improvement in wet/dry traction over stock Goodyears. Great in the rain too. Don't get them if you have to drive in the snow/ice with them though, they completely SUCK in that.

IMO, Yokohama AVS has the grip and tread life that any fbody owner would desire. I have them and I think its 200% improvement from Goodyears and about 100% better than Kumhos 712s. I had them both. ;)

I would highly recommend the BFG g-Force KDW tires. That's what I have on my 01 SS right now and these tires hook up and handle great. Treadwear isn't bad either. The stock Goodyear Eagle F1's really sucked compared to the KDW's. With 325 RWHP the F1's were like launching on wet pavement. With the KDW's I have to dump the clutch at about 3 grand to break 'em loose.

The MX's will wear even faster than the 712's.

The Yokohama AVS and BFG KDW mentioned earlier are both good choices. You might also want to look at the Firestone SZ50 EP, or Falken Ziex 512.

MY thoughts on the issue is... go through 2 pairs of kuhmos and they will be only slightly more expensive then one set of regular tires

And no matter how crappy Kuhmos are, 2 sets are oging to last alot longer then one set of a regualr tire

Khumo's will end up costing more to buy 2 whole sets.. I think I am going to purchase a set of Nitto NT555 Extreme Performance tires. They look like a real nice built tire and i have heard good things from people..

Anyone have experience with them and what did you think about them?

I got 70k on my stock eagle GA's, and it was time for new one, I just bought the khumos 711's from tirerack $234 for a set of 4. People say they wear quickly but I figure if I can get 2 years of 20000 miles outa them its gonna be worth it because if your hard on a tire your gonna eat it up fast no matter how much it cost, and if you are easy on 'em they both are gonna last. Maybe an expencive one will last few months more, but you might be more inclined to push a more expencive tire harder anyhow.
