Offset Explaination, quick question, easy response

Ok, so my question is about wheel offset.
somebody just give me a little general information on it.
So with these specs, 17x8 5-120.65 (6.25" Backspacing), is that the correct offset for our cars?
Next, 17x10 5-120.65, what is the correct offset for these?
