Brake Caliper Bolts

I'm changing my brake pads and I used the search and found this site on changing the brake pads.

On there, it says that I need to unbolt the caliper mounting bolts but I can't find the bolts on my caliper. Is the caliper different on 97s or am I looking at it wrong?

Yeah, it's different. The bolts on our '97 cars are allen (hex) headed bolts which are in holes on the backside of the caliper. There is no frame (like it shows in those pics). There are two of them and they are kinda tough to get out because it's a little akward to get back there.

I would try putting the front end on jackstands and turning the front wheels away from the side you're working on (ex. drivers side wheel; turn steering wheel to passenger side) that way you you won't have to reach around back of the disks.

Just look at it and I'm sure you can figure something out. I just did this this past weekend when I had my rotors turned.

You know what size hex keys I need?
I tried 12mm, 10mm, and 8 mm; but none of them fits. 12mm and 10mm was too big and 8mm was too small. Maybe its in inches..
And I want to make sure I know the right size before I make another trip to Sears again.(I keep returning the ones that dont work)

Sorry, I don't remember what size it was, I just kept trying them until I found one that worked and didn't bother to look at the size. I'm thinking it was english system, since I know we don't have my metric stuff around my place.

It's a 3/8" on my '96.

Don't get a hex key, get a hex socket. Get a craftsman, too, as the first one I had (non-craftsman) turned inthe socket and broke. Piece of sh1t tools. Since it's a huge torque number, you need a socket / ratchet and not a hex key.
