Tire Size ?'s w/ in......

Im looking to get a set of 17' tires for my TA, here is the ?
Im looking into the BFG KDWS, & the Sumitumo HTR+

The ? is in the size, should I go w/ the 275/40/17's in the BFG's, or go w/ the 255/45/17 in the Sumitumo? There is a 140.oo difference in the cost, and I was wondering if it's really going to be worth the extra scratch to get the wide BFG's? They also come in the smaller size, and are 112.oo more than the Sumitumos.

They both are non directional, and have a wear factor of 400 and 360 respect. How is the 275 vs the 255 going to look on the tire, and am I even going to be able to tell the diff?

I went from 255/45/17's (Khumo Ecsta 712's) to 275/40/17's (Yokohama AVS) and the 255's had more grip. With such a small difference in size, I think your grip depends more on which tire you go with.

I've got the BFG KDWS 245/45/17. I think they grip pretty good. And the wet traction is way better than the stock tires, I've even driven in the snow without much problem.
