  • Affordable brake repalcement? (Rotors/pads)

Whats an affordable rotor/pad setup you guys suggest?

I was thinking Brembo blanks and EBC greenstuff but its kinda pricey, I am doing all 4 corners.

    Just autozone specials?

    Thanks in advance.

I want to re-vamp my brakes too, discs all way round. And also something that stops better, snowbird season is starting I don't wanna plow into a New Jersey grandma. Shorter braking distance probably could of prevented my previous accident.

I just did the front so far, but I used the Autozone basic rotors and Morse ceramic pads. It was $144 out the door and so far they are working well. The cheap rotors rust like crazy though, wish I had painted the hubs before I put them on.

Brembo blanks are nice. I have those on the rear, along with Hawk ceramic pads. For the front, I have Powerslot rotors with the Greenstuff pads. I wouldn't take cheap shortcuts with my brakes. Forget Ebay. I had a set of slotted front rotors off there, and the first time i made an "emergency" stop, it f*cked both of them up. Fork over the cash for quality stuff and do it right the first time. It's less expensive in the long run.

I also heard someone mention shorter braking distance. A braided-steel brake line kit would help with that tremendously. I've had mine for over a year, and they're well worth it.

As for pads, I went with Pro Stop Raybestos. Better than stock and about $30-$40 for front and same for rear.

As for rotors I have brembo in front and raybestos in back. I don't have much of an opinon, other than they haven't warped yet.

yeah I know that ideally, I was thinking of Brembo blanks and EBC greenstuff(I had hawks on another car they were a little too not street friendly for my taste)

But doing all 4 corners adds up to $415.20 at tirerack.com

                EBC green stuff pads...
                Front $71.10
                Rear $62.10
                Rotors
                Front $128 2 @$64 a piece
                REar $154 2@$77 a piece

                +$47.55 shipping

                =$462.75

Thats one expensive set of brakes, especially when that is just parts no labor.

These were the ones I was gonna get. I think for front/rear rotors, braided lines and pads thats a pretty good deal.

Check those prices again. Those Brembo blanks shouldn't be that expensive. I got mine a couple of months ago, and both rear rotors together wasn't $77. They were about $30 or $35 each.

I stand corrected. They ARE that expensive. Hell it seems like they've almost doubled the price since I ordered mine!

                          I got mine from here:
                          http://www.fasttoys.net/9398fbodyframes.html

Been on since the beginning of this year and still works great! No warpage at all after this install and people tell me I'm hard on the brakes.

I got my pads from Thunder Racing. I still have the Hawk HPS rear pads from them as I did not replace the rear..yet. If you are interested in them I'll sell them to you $50 shipped.
