its that time, rotors feel like crap, not sure what to do.

1st option. get them turned. how much??
if i take this option, would a dremel polish off the rust all over the non "skid" areas?

2nd option. buy new rotors, i know theres cryo treated, slotted, crossdrilled, just looking to get a nice set of rotors that will do the job and look very nice for a long time without spending all my other mod money. suggestions?

    thanks

It should cost between 5-10 dollars a rotor to have them turned.

Autozone, $40 each or so. Drill them yourself if you like, it doesn't do a damn thing. Don't bother debating this fact, we've all rehashed it a million times.

SKAM - had the same problem many times. Only people I know that have been able to balance tires right for me is Sears :( Give them a shot, satisfaction or your money back you know.

I too have the same problem with top end unstability. But you can get rotors for as little as $20 a piece. I tried that route once and one of them was warped out of the box, so I guess you get what you pay for.

If you are getting vibrations when you get to certian speeds, and balancing your tires isn't helping, I know what the problem COULD be. There are two potential problems: Warped tire (not out of ballance) has a deformed place, like a warble (blob sticking out somewhere) on either side of the tire; the other reason, bad treaded tire(s) have treads that don't run in a linear symetric path (where your tread should run strait but instead curves in one spot). Those can cause vibrations, and COULD be the cause.

Too bad you don't live in AZ, I bet you $1000 I can balance a tire better than anyone at sears. We fix their problems all the time. It all depends if you get the right guy at the right time.

                      Off topic, slightly...

How long do rotors last for? Also, how long to drums last for before needing service?

Disc rotors last between 40,000-100,000 miles, you just have to check their thickness when you do pads. Turning rotors shaves a lot of life off them.

Drums can wear thin too, but typically don't - you're probably fine for a very long time with them.

i had my rotors turned at 12000 miles, new ones at 26000 as well as new pads. I hate the stock front rotors and pads. when I get the cash, I'm upgrading to a wilwood 6 piston kit. why keep buying rotors and pads if ur gonna wear them out every 26000 miles? yes, it was free for me since the car was under warranty, but still, it shouldn't have had to be done.
