  • opinions of new suspension layout...

I've decided I'm gonna take the Evolution autox class in March here and need to do some work prior to going. If all goes well I should have some of this stuff done. Anything not done I'll do end of semester/summer.
Chassis - BMR stb, hotpart sfc (weld)
Suspension - H&R springs, Bilstein HDs, hotpart trailing arms, hotpart panhard (undecided on reg. or adj.)? which to do
Alignment- max - camber, max caster, 0 to 3/32" total toe out
sway bars will be later but I wanna do the 32 hollow from Strano with 19 in back I THINK?

I just wanted to get a review and see if there's anything I should know and do or not do. Thanks

WTF? You don't "need" to do anything before going, in fact upgrading from stock will just make your car very twitchy and difficult to learn with.
If you INSIST on upgrading stuff, 1LE RLCAs and PHR can't do you any wrong. But, dear god, leave teh swaybars alone for now.

yeah honestly.. you wil "learn" alot more with a stock car on cruddy tires.. IMO..

leave the stuff alone for now.. go to a few events.. and you will have ALOT of fun..

continue going to events all season long.. learn learn learn.. with all the money you saved not buying suspension mods..

read read read.. in the suspension forum...

THEN.. next year.. think about what you want to do to the car.. probably best to start with springs and shocks.. and then work from there.. using the other components to adjust the car to way you like it..

      its good advice.. trust me..

Do you want to be competitive at autocross?

If so, the first step is to get a rulebook for where you want to run and see what mods will put you in what class.

In particular, the sfcs will likely put you where you have absolutely no hope _and_ the competitive guys have very expensive autocross only tires.

the guys are right. it is best to learn is a closer to stock car. the slower/less handling advantage the car has forces you to learn proper line selection and braking points.
in the long run it will also make it easier for you to understand the limits of the car since you can make the handling/power grow along with your abilities.
evo is a great school. enjoy. one huge tip, walk the track with the instructors as many times as you can befor eyou go out. they come from all kinds of cars, and collectively see every little angle that could ever effect your car.
