  • Caliper Bracket

One of my caliper sliding pins seized, causing the head to break off when trying to remove the caliper. The pin is stuck inside the caliper mounting bracket. I've tried everything to remove it (penetrating oil, heat/cool, vice grips, beating the heck out of it, etc). Nothing works and I've given up... where can I buy a new caliper mounting bracket? Parts stores don't have it.

Its a '98 V6 with ABS (if it makes a difference). The bracket in question is the front/driver side.

Drill it out with a quality drill bit. As you are drilling, once every 10 seconds or so put a drop of oil on the tip of the bit where it's making contact so you don't burn it up.
After drilling, use a tap & die kit to rethread the hole.
Take one of the other caliper bolts to the auto store to match it up and see what size it is. It's always good to have a tap & die kit handy! I've needed mine quite a few times in the past year.
