I read on a previous post that the calipers on a corvette would fit our cars. I recently put on 17" SS rims and realized that the rotors on my car look too small for my liking. Is there anyway I could upgrade the calipers and rotors (front & rear) to that of a Corvette? Also, what years will fit my car?

I suggest that if you are looking into upgraing your brakes that you look into the wilwood 6-piston upgrade kit for the ls1's. you have to have 17" rims, which you have, so it won't be hard to install them. There are 2 kits, one for front, one for rear. you can live w/ just the front kit, you will get somewhat better braking response, but you will get the best braking if you got both kits at the same time. it'll be 2 g's for both, not including installation. In my opinion, it is cheaper in the long run if you get the best to begin w/, if you have the cash on hand.2001 Arctic White Firebird
T-Tops, 3.42 rear gear stock
Mods:K&N Air Filter,Whisper Air Induction Lid, maf screen removed, raised air box, Kumho Ecsta 712 255-50-ZR16 tires, BMR stb
Mods not installed yet: FTRA, SLP Lsd/Differential cover
Near Future Mods: HPP3, GMMG 3\" Exhaust , 1LE Swaybars, Transgo Shift Kit, MSD-DIS-4 w/ Accel Coil-Packs, Turquoise Blue Neon Underbody Kit, BMR Adj. It is possible to mount C5 calipers and rotors with a custom bracket. The calipers do not mount to the same locations as the 98+ fbody even though the calipers are similar in shape. Plus the Vette rotor is larger than the f-body. Ther was a guy on either LS1.com or CamaroZ28.com that was putting together a package for the swap. The nice thing about it was all the parts, other than the bracket are GM parts. So if you need ot replace stuff you can get it an any dealership. Plus I believe the Vette parts are actually cheaper?? This is only for the fronts by the way.
If you are simply concerned about the size and not the performance, the 98+ brakes are larger than our 93-97 setup so you could just do that swap instead.

I probably should of rephrased my post, although I am doing for the looks, performance is a big issue too. My brother-in-law owns a 96 Vette with the same rims as me and so I want to go with the calipers/rotors that the vette has cause in my opinion they look better.

I believe the calipers/rotors on the 98+ V6s are C4 vette brakes (the 96 is a C4), but I'm not positive. You could check it out.

I dont think they're the same, I took a look at them today and it would be one tight fit (if it even fit) on a 16" wheel, I asked him and he said they were larger. I contacted the guy on camaroz28.com and am waiting for him to get back to me, hes the one that has the conversion kit, i wanna look into it first though.1996 Camaro 3.8L A4
*RK Sport Headers, RT High Flow Cat, B&B Tri-Flo Catback w/Quad Tips
*17\" Camaro SS Rims w/Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP (275/40/17 Front, 285/40/17 Rear)
*SLP Speedometer Recalibrator
*American Sports Car SS Style Hood, Painted Green Disc Calipers and Drum Shells
*Charcoal Leather Interior

I measured the front rotors today and they're 13" exactly. Does anybody know what special pieces i would need to fit the calipers on my car (custom bracket?), its off of a 96 Grand Sport.

You need what the guy on CamaroZ28 is selling. A custom mounting bracket for the calipers. The vette parts sit further away from the centerline of the wheel because the rotors are larger. Keep in mind that Corvette parts will not fit under 16" rims so if you have to go back to stock for some reason, you might be SOL.
If you search for his posts on CamaroZ28.com you should see prices and pictures of what is included. It's all there, or atleast it was a while ago.

(not really knowledged on brakets) Any help???1996 Camaro 3.8L A4
*RK Sport Headers, RT High Flow Cat, B&B Tri-Flo Catback w/Quad Tips
*17\" Camaro SS Rims w/Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP (275/40/17 Front, 285/40/17 Rear)
*SLP Speedometer Recalibrator
*American Sports Car SS Style Hood, Painted Green Disc Calipers and Drum Shells
*Charcoal Leather Interior

Actually, I looked today on the site and wasn't finding the info that was there a while ago. The bracket was bolted to the back of the spindle, using longer bolts for the wheel bearing. I don't think any bracket from the vette would work as it would need to bolt to our uprights. The guy's screenname was lateapex, maybe you can find more than I did.

the ones on the other site are not designed to work with GS calipers. the brackets he has made are for the red C5 calipers that say "Corvette" on them. as i recall, the GS calipers are supposed to be black and say "Corvette" on them. ZR1 calipers are silver and don't say anything on them.
I'm looking for a set of inexpensive GS front calipers if they are in good shape and you want to sell them. email me if interested. i have a friend that would custom make me brackets for them. it might be cheaper for you to run something that everyone is making the brackets for.

BobC: Im not following your post, i dont have anything to sell (if that was directed at me). I'm actually looking to buy a brake system that uses 13" rotors (Grand Sport Edition or the ZR1 possibly) I've looked into brake kits but for 2 grand it aint worth it. does your friend own a buisness that specializes in this?1996 Camaro 3.8L A4
*RK Sport Headers, RT High Flow Cat, B&B Tri-Flo Catback w/Quad Tips
*17\" Camaro SS Rims w/Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP (275/40/17 Front, 285/40/17 Rear)
*SLP Speedometer Recalibrator
*American Sports Car SS Style Hood, Painted Green Disc Calipers and Drum Shells
*Charcoal Leather Interior

Brendan, Yes, it was directed at you. I got the impression you had a pair of calipers.
I've only seen 1 car using those, and my friend that owns it made the brackets himself. He had offered to make me a set for cost, so I've been watching for calipers. Otherwise, the things I've seen available use C5 or Aftermarket calipers.
So if you don't already have calipers, getting brackets for C5 calipers seems easier. Personally, I don't care if they look good or don't, as I'm just looking for stopping power...
