  • Does this sound normal (topic endlinks)

Last night I replaced my front endlinks and swaybar bushings. Easy task, noticable improvement over worn out stock rubber.

Now when I started to take the old endlinks off something unexpected happened. With just minor effort... i'd estimate about 10-15 ft/lb torque... the endlink bolt just snapped in half. This happened with both sides.

It kinda scared me that i have been driving around with these things so worn out. I took a closer look at the bolt and it had wore/corroded down to about a 1/4 of the size in diameter that the bolt should have been. Both bolts on both sides were worn this way. The wear was located between the top bushings and the sway bar.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is that normal for a car thats almost 10 years old?

Yes, ALL cars in that age have that.
