Yes they will, I noticed a difference between a 245s and 235s on the different sets of wheels.

Big difference between my 275s and 17s and my any tires on 16s...

Yes because the slight weight and size difference would slow down the wheels from spinning a lil but you can always change out the clutch, tranny, and/or flywheel and also add

MORE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and take advantage of the longer push and increased tire surface area touching the ground

I have 18s. They are more expensive. The rubber for them is going to be more expensive. I can't tell the difference in my speed, but my car is just for looks anyways.

Longer push? Increased tire surface area?
Unfortunately, that longer push requires more power to turn the wheel. Which is why they slow your car down. Secondly, the increased tire surface area is also cancelled since more power is required to turn the wheel. And of course, if you use low profile tires, both of those 'benefits' are cancelled off the bat.

Honestly, I haven't noticed a difference. I went from 245/50/16's to 265/35/18's. The height was nearly the same and the overall ride actually feels better. Tire-wise, I went from Michelin Pilot Sports to BFG GForce Kd's so maybe that has something to with it too. The BFG's are awesome. I love em'. As some of the others mentioned, you could lighten up your car in other ways to make up the difference too. I'm installing an aftermarket hood soon..

Not to but heads here but weight reduction isn't the same as increasing/decreasing rotational mass. Weight involved with anything that rotates should be x10 when comparing it to normal weight reduction. So if a wheel weighs 5 lbs heavier than stock it would be more like 50 lbs PER wheel when considering rotational mass.

And yes, it will handle better. Increasing the size of the wheel (not tire) improves handling since there is less give.

Nope. I'm talking street driving. If I want to go to the track, I have slicks for that.

True, but it helps if someone's worried about losing .050 on the street. The bottom line is if you match up the stock tire/wheel size with a lower profile/bigger wheel that is comparable, it ain't really gonna make a difference. And I'm saying, I personally, noticed NO difference.
