Front shock problem?

Hi my drivers side front shock is going bad, it is a Gabrial shock, i went today to Strauss to pick up a replacement shock, but the new shock i just bought does not have that round mounting plate that the spring sits on. The guy at strauss said i would be able to reuse it & put that round mounting plate on the new shock? Is this true? also the new shock i bought is a sensa-trac, it was the only brand they had for my car.

The reason my shock i think went bad is because we had a hard time trying to get the strut out because the nuts were so rusted. We had to beat the sturt, to get it off. I was going to replace my front shocks with the Bilstein HD, but those shocks also came with no spring seats on them? When i tried to get the spring seat of my old Gabrial shock to put it on the new Bilstein seat, it would not come off? So i just put my old gabrial shock back on. Someone please help

Time to bit the bullet and take it to the Chevy dealer
and let them handle it. They know best

That spring seat should and will come off. It slips down over the top of the strut. Hammer the crap out of it.

New ones should come with a new spring seat. Return it and find a place with the right part.
