  • Rear Bump Stops

I Also posted this on the "Wanted" section...My Rear Bump Stops (Pinion Snubbers?) R TOAST, on my '97 Y87, an' it's barely got 80k on it. Anybody know where I can score replacements (hopefully Urethane)? I'm not EVEN tryin' 2 get the hokey ones from the dlrshp. that'll jus' fall apart again...4 like over $30 apiece. I've already tried Energy Suspension...they recommended me some !@#%%##! JEEP CJ5/CJ7 ones...Ummmm....or a "universal piece" that looks NOTHIN' like what's on my car. Anybody know anythin' 'bout this?? I've tried a few other places as well. Jus' lemme' know. U can Email me directly @ badblueiroc@yahoo.com or post, Thanx

i got mine from the dealer. i think they were around $30 for both. the replacement ones from the dealer seem a lot better than what was on it originally.

          Here's a link: http://energysuspension.com/pages/bsp2.html

Check out the 9.9137's (Ummm...yeeaah the "Jeep Ones"), anybody that's changed 'em out, an' lemme' know if U think it's "feasible". They look almos' like "dead ringers" 4 the stock ones, although I'm not posititve on all the dimensions...mounting, etc. Also, I'm kinda' wonderin' what the Urethane would do 2 the "ride quality" (yes, I'm aware it's a Firebird ;) ) , although I think they'd B pretty easy 2 get "broke-in", unlike the supposed difficulties w/ the tranny mounts.

bump stops are are not a part of your suspension per say. they are there to keep you from blowing your shocks in the event you hit something so hard that the rear end tries to come up and hit the fender.

yea you won't be breaking them in really cuz you shouldn't be hitting them all the time unless you go flying through a speed bump course, lol. ES stops should be fine on the fbody.

I know that my axle's contacted them, before, as the stock ones are toasted beyond recognition. I don't really do a whole lotta' "airborne" activities, either. Jus' rough-*** Muncie roads. Is it possible that the rear shocks should "go", as well? I jus' turned over 82k an' I have a Y87 package ('97) w/ the DeCarbon shocks. 2 The best O' my knowledge, they've never been replaced. However, I've never had any "bounce", or any other ill shock problems. Regardless...I need 2 replace those bump stops A.S.A.P. , or risk the axle smackin' the frame/wheelhouses/etc. So, again, any assistance w/ that would B appreciated.

I went through 3 sets from the dealer. but I had 17x10's in the read and a 2" drop.

I do not reccomend the ones from the dealer, they break apart so quickly if your lowered.
