  • Same ol' Rotor questions..

I searched..I want some up to date information.

If you come in this thread just to say 'search', get the hell out!

I'm going to be getting 4 new rotors. I think I've decided on KVR...what do you think of these? I'm looking at the cross-drilled ones. I've read that KVRs have no problems with warping. And I'll be getting some ceramic pads.

How do you all feel about eBay rotors? Stay away?

Front/Rear Cross-drilled KVR rotors with ceramic pads. Sound like a good set-up? Fore see any problems? Feedback is appreciated..I want to get this project rolling asap. I will be doing the drum to disc conversion as well.

im not sure what ebay rotors you are talking about but ive seen some on there before that were the stock rotors with holes drilled into them... BAD IDEA.. thoes would be very likely to break, they arent made for just drilling holes into them

The eBay rotors I was referring to are these,,

      http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2461502914

It seems they are no-name brand.

Would it be worth it to upgrade to the 98+ brakes? Or will drum to disc with 4 new rotors/pads be sufficient enough?

i have KVR brakes, and was going to get the cross drilled ones. i decided against it. KVR does not drill their holes in a swept patten, and because of this, i got the slotted ones. I love the slotted ones, there is no brake fade, and they havent warped on me yet (and i drive hard as hell on backroads). holes that are cast in the pattern like KVR's tend to crack more than holes in a swept pattern. look at Baer or Wilwood brakes for more of an idea on what i am talking about.

i did a writeup of the brakes i got on my website if you want some more insight to what i think of them.

The 98+ rear rotors have a smaller hub than the 93-97's. I bought a no-name set of slotted rotors (no holes) on ebay in sept of 2003, and had zero problems with them so far. I'm not sure if they were 98+, because I had to use a dremel to open the center hub a tiny bit so they would fit on my axles, but my point is that I've had a good experience with the no-name brand.

            Is that proven?

Are there any other rotors that have the cross-drilled holes in that pattern that are relatively cheap? (Around $250- for Fr/Rr)

I really want to get cross-drilled...but BAER is a bit high for what I'm looking for.

Keep in mind. Of all the things you do not want to go cheap on are your brakes. If you any doubt about the quality of any of the brake components that you are thinking about buying then don't get them.

Do not go generic with brakes. Not worth the price you may have to pay if they fail.
