• How do I prep my SFCs?

I have BMR boxed SFCs, powdercoated red. I know that the powdercoating needs to be taken off in some spots for welding.

My question is where? On the edges of the plates (front and back?), or do I sand the entire plate? I intend to use a Dremel rotary tool to take of the powdercoating.

Anything else I should do? Thanks!

They are weld-on? Then anywhere a weld joint will be. (I don't know where those are...)

You can probably get a good idea from holding them in place under the car and see where the weld points are going to be.

You shouldn't need to remove the powder coat where the metal surfaces touch each other, just where the actual weld is going to be.

Yeah, you just want a clean surface so the weld will have best possible contact point.

When I was about to weld my SFC's in, I got under the car, placed one connector up to the spot that I wanted it, and marked both subframe and subframe connector with white chalk. Got back under the car and took a grinder to the weld points and then the powder coating on the SFC's. Worked great!

Well, I ground every edge down. I sanded a 1/4 inch of the flat parts as well, in case they need to use that. I basically sanded every edge down on all sides. When they weld it up, I'll tell them to spray some Rustoleum on the bare metal points.
