  • calipers not going on, help asap!

I bought new rotors and pads. The fronts are perfect!

The rears are giving me some trouble though. The caliper bracket seems to touch the rotor. like the rotor isnt far enough back, but it is back as far as it can go. It's kinda weird and hard to explain. But it's doing it to the stock rotors now too. Is there anything I have to do? Anything to try? Ideas?

you sure its the right pads ? compare to your old ones.. i did mine like a week ago and the backs did give me a lil problem ... it will look like the piston is pushed all the way back but the piece that the pads rest in is actually pushed back....

yea the pads look exactly the same, just a little thicker (of course). I dont know, maybe i need a pic of the rear caliper on the rotor. Prehaps I'm hooking it up backwards, if thats even possible :/

I had trouble with the emergency brake shoes on my rear discs when I changed them out, make sure you have got the disk as far on as it will go, which can be a little tricky.

I'm with X, I'd double check that your piston is fully seated. A 32nds of an inch is enough to keep them from going back on easily.

Something else that might give you trouble. The place where the caliper bolts go into (if I'm thinking correctly) are removable (this was on the front anyways). I was having trouble getting the front caliper on both sides, so I removed these metal pins out of where the caliper mounts, and looked at them. They were slightly rusted and had a rough surface. I removed both pins from each side (with a screw driver and a hammer) and then took a dremel tool to them. I removed the rust and smoother the surface back out. Then I covered them with Neverseize, and put them back in the way the came out. This gave me enough slack to mount the calipers back properly with the new pads. It's hard to explain where these pins are, and my car is over an hour away from me. Sorry if this doesn't help any.
