I called Global West on their tech line Friday afternoon and asked them about sway bars and spring rates. On their website under the 4th gen FBody suspension section, it says that they "race with stock sway bars." I asked the tech why they did this and why is their such a big misconception between all the aftermarket companies relating to sway bar sizes. He told me that the stock sway bars are more than addequite to handle the F-Bodies body roll. He said that putting anything larger than the 19mm bar in the back will cause oversteer. I asked why alot of people go to a larger front bar like 35mm or 32mm and leave the rear stock and have good success without any increased oversteer. He told me that all the aftermarket companies are just trying to sell and there is hardly any benefit from using larger bars. I asked him about the 1LE setup with the 32/21 bars and he said SLP is one of the only companies that he know of that actually designs their products well and that know what their doing. He told me that using a 32mm front bar is o.k. and if I wanted to use that it would work very well with no oversteer. He says that spring rates are the most important factor in improving handling and that the stock GM springs are poorly designed. Basically he said to buy good springs and shock and then fine tune with swaybars IFnecessary. I told him that I have oversteer even with my stock springs and shocks, and 30/19 setup. He asked what I had in the rear suspension. I said just polyeurethane control arm bushings in the stock control arms. He said, stop rith there, there's your problem. Take those out and put spherical bushings or ILE hard rubber. He recommended Global West double spherical end control arms. But they are $319 and aren't adjustable! They are different in design than BMR, Sphon, or LG. They have the looks of a BMR non adjustable tubular arm, but with a bushing inside the loop where the poly bushing would go. So they are not really rod ends like BMR. But are called spherical. They are probably superior in design and less noise and wear. I know Global West is more expensive than other companies, but they have over 20 years experience and have tried alot of setups. They are very knowledgeable and if you call them, they will be very polite and answer your questions. I am not trying to sell Global West, but just trying to share some experienced information!

Rod ends are just spherical bearings with a threaded shank. Basically the same thing.

There's a huge range of quality in rod ends/sperical bearings. Best are aircraft quality with teflon liners from a quality manufacturer like NMB.
